Shobhabazar Rajbari Durga Puja is steeped in 260+ years of history. Instituted by Raja Nabakrishna Deb in 1757 following the Battle of Plassey, it was famously attended by Lord Clive and Warren Hastings. The puja is held in the majestic open-air Natmandap surrounded by pillared arches. The deity is fashioned in classic Ekchala style adorned with real gold filigree, and traditional cannons were historically fired during Sandhi Puja.
